Sally Denning
Professional Bio
Dr Sally Denning is a lecturer in play therapy at Deakin University and has a private play and dance therapy practice in country Victoria. Previously, Sally worked for over 13 years as a therapeutic specialist at the Australian Childhood Foundation, working therapeutically with children who have experienced complex trauma and offering support to their carers. In private practice at Castlemaine Play Therapy, Sally provides a range of therapeutic services to children and their carers, to support their wellbeing. Services include play therapy, dance-movement therapy, yoga therapy, filial therapy and child/parent dyadic work.
Sally has a specific interest in the capacity and capability development of current and emerging play and dance therapists. She has completed PhD research on the role of pedagogy in informing the shape and practice of the dance-movement therapy profession within Australia and has published in the area of competency standards for current and emerging professions.
