Christin Santiago

Christin Santiago is a seasoned Clinical Recreation Therapist and innovative leader with over 25 years of dedicated experience specializing in youth and adolescents impacted by trauma and presenting challenging behaviors. In 2023, she was selected as the Commonwealth Fellow at Suffolk University, earning a certificate in Human Service Leadership and Management, and a Master’s in Public Administration. 

Her professional expertise centers around pioneering treatment programs that foster a holistic mind-body connection, especially for individuals who have experienced trauma. Grounded in Recreation Therapy, her approach integrates principles of Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) and Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), utilizing a comprehensive “needs and vulnerabilities” framework to interpret behaviors. This approach builds resilience and empowerment in clients across various ages and backgrounds.

Beyond her professional endeavors, Christin has dedicated over 25 years to volunteering with the Special Olympics. Her contributions were honored in 2016 when she was named Coach of the Year by Special Olympics Massachusetts and recognized as a finalist for National Coach of the Year. In 2018, she served as head Athletics coach for Special Olympics Massachusetts at the National USA Games in Seattle, Washington. Christin’s outstanding commitment and impact were further celebrated in 2019 with her induction into the Special Olympics Hall of Fame.
