Professional Bio
Jill Samera is a visual artist, tutor, writer and Registered Nurse. She lives In Sydney with her husband and young adult children.

Jill paints live at events and runs art workshops for both adults and children. She developed the Visual Arts program for Artslife, Georges River Life Care to help give children a voice through art.

Jill loves to use bright colours and textures, and finds that painting has become her ‘peace space’. She also loves to write. Her upcoming book is titled ‘The Making of an Artist: Simple Steps to Unleash Your Creativity’ and is available for pre-order at www.sameraart.com. This book is a hybrid memoir and creative guide, where you can journey through Jill’s turbulent childhood and out the other side with art tools under your belt.

A survivor of childhood family and domestic violence, Jill speaks with vulnerability and honesty. She combines visual art in her presentations, and engages audiences with personal storytelling along with a ‘bigger picture’ perspective.

Jill has worked extensively as an Emergency Nurse, and this experience is infused her desire to see change for better health for people from all walks of life. She understands the insidious nature of family and domestic violence and has witnessed its outworking in both her own life, and those she has both taught and nursed. As a nurse she is solutions focused, and hopes to help give voice to those impacted, as she was, by family and domestic violence. It is her hope that in speaking out, this will be a small step towards increasing awareness and stamping out this endemic problem.
