Professional Bio
Dr. Elliot Gann (aka Phillipdrummond) is a licensed clinical psychologist, Hip Hop therapist, artist, and beat maker/producer. He is the creator of the Therapeutic Beat Making (TBM) model and the Executive Director of Today’s Future Sound, a nonprofit that uses Hip Hop beat making as a culturally responsive tool for mental health, education, and international cultural exchange.
Dr. Gann has implemented TBM with thousands of youth across the U.S., Latin America, Africa, Europe, and Australia—in schools, juvenile detention centers, community-based programs, and therapeutic settings. In Australia, he has worked across most territories in diverse environments including public schools, community youth hubs, forensic settings, and remote Indigenous communities. His work includes training local practitioners and collaborating with them to deliver trauma-informed, culturally grounded programming—often supporting newly arrived refugee and immigrant youth.
He also serves as a Hip Hop cultural ambassador for the U.S. State Department, facilitating international diplomacy and cross-cultural exchange in Africa and Europe through Hip Hop, mental health education, and community engagement.
In addition to direct service and training, Dr. Gann regularly presents at global conferences, including the Trauma Research Foundation’s International Trauma Conference and the Psychotherapy Networker Symposium, advocating for the transformative power of Hip Hop in healing, empowerment, and education.
