Dr Deeta Kimber is a Child & Adolescent psychiatrist who works in hard-to-get-to places, which include child and adult prisons, providing outreach to the outback in the Kimberley Region of Western Australia. She has developed a hands-on visual mental health system that teaches polyvagal theory as the underpinning of trauma-informed self-care and clinical care. Her work is hands-on, practical, actionable and culturally safe, emphasising meeting children and families where they're at. Her passion is community development, and she upskills Indigenous Health Workers and Educational Assistants, nurses, doctors, paediatricians, and teachers around Australia. This is in the service of scaling developmentally informed coregulation support, self-regulation and emotional regulation understanding and teacher and clinician self-care.
